Life Skills Program Basic Package

The Project is a combination of accommodation and life skills learning. In Croydon Surrey, we have a training centre close to some other local facilities, which has an IT laboratory and a conference room, where the Young Person can do language, IT or other life skills courses such as -

  • Home Safety and Security and First Aid Fire Procedures

  • Health education including personal hygiene

  • Monitoring visits to GP and follow up appointments/medication

  • Emotional well being and mental health

  • Laundry, sewing, housekeeping skills

  • Budgeting including the matching of expenditure

  • Basic electrical and household maintenance

  • How to complete application forms

  • Writing CV’s, Letter Writing

  • Training and Employment

  • Interviewing skills and Working Environment Tips – and expectations of being an employee

  • Sex education

  • Substance misuse

  • Shopping food preparations, cooking and healthy eating

  • Accessing of emergency services

  • Applying for Benefits

  • Requesting resources from other agencies

  • Setting up home and maintaining home

  • Housing need and recent history and practical home care

  • Independent living and move-on aspirations

  • Training on tenancy requirements for independent living Family and social contacts

  • Social and leisure interests Cultural faith needs

  • Child care

  • Parenting skills

 

Explore Independence  training programme is carried out on a one-to-one consultation basis between the Key Worker / other Specialist Agencies and the Service User, covering any other concerns that may be raised by both prospective and existing service users
